Why is SHIVA called "mahadev", "devo ke dev (Lord of the Lords)"?? Is it some sort of blind belief, an ancient ritual followed by Hindus, or the "Veds" (Teachers of ancient India) really knew something that is totally ignored.? Is Shiva a really scientific fact? Yes, or No.. Well. Let's see this story.
Science says, Universe started from zero. After big bang, matter and anti matter came out. Their are equal number of both the particles, if subtracted from each other the total will be zero. It means that without antimatter, matter does not exist. Their is equal amount of antimatter exist in universe to the matter particles. (see Stephen Hawking's show: Did God created the Universe on "Discovery channel"). After big bang, due to minute non-uniformity in the arrangement, the matter particles gathered. Series of changes in its formation and also some luck, the changes so formed brings us here on our planet. And it is mandatory that their must be existing a parallel universe of antimatter somewhere in space.
Hence the fact is, to run the universe or for its existence, opposites are necessary. Their are angels and so devils. Truth-lie, evil-good, moving-stationary and countless number of things are around us. However we may never find, how and where they may exist.
Let us take a simple example. We take two elements, male and female. Totally opposite to each in almost everything. But when they unite together they give a new life. If anyone is absent. No life could take place.
Since it is possible that "Veds" were wise enough to understand this fact that life exist only with combination of male and female, hence it is mandatory that whole universe follows same rule. May be possible that they have speculated, universe is nothing but combination of male and female. And the combination called "ardhnaareshwar" or Lord Shiva is Universe. The "shivling" or stone representing shiva is a sacred stone because it is symbol of union.
Hence according to them Shiva is universe. They knew nature should be worshiped and People need God. So, SHIVA is God.
